Residental Section

This pleasant suburb holds the majority of the people that live on the north-eastern part of the island. A short distance from the beach, the only thing separating the houses from the shore is a narrow strip of land that is used to service the boats belonging to the townspeople.

"Ready, Anei?" remarked Hokori warmly to her sister, hands held about a six inches apart at about waist level, brown eyes amused. It was early, just past sunrise in fact, the night birds changing shifts with the morning singers and the sky painted orange by the rising sun. She was striped to her pants and T-shirt, barefoot in a wide stance.

The older twin, similarly clad and posed, nodded silently in reply before letting the magic play out of her palms and flow together. A deep breath to take in the unreal scent of her surroundings, an act of will, and the magic sparked into flame, forming a sphere between her hands and highlighting her features from below. "Hai," she called, letting the sphere fly at her twin, watching Hokori do the same.

The sphere was caught in a web of magic coming from Hokori's palms, two quick half-steps to her right before the sphere was fed and bounced back with a soft crackle of manna and flame. Throw, catch, step, throw, catch, step... The Garandou twins repeated their simple, dangerous kata on the beach over and over, mindlink humming with focus and trust and the joy of magic they shared, breathing in tune as they slowly circled, trading balls of flame back and forth. You couldn't play with fire if you weren't willing to risk being burned. Nothing else mattered, even here and now.

"Bye Mom! I'm going to Riku's and then to Sora's and we're going over to the island!" Kairi shut the front door and thought, Thank goodness it's Saturday. She skipped down the road, pausing momentarily when she saw a fireball flying back and forth until she realized that it was the twins from the day before. "Huh."

It wasn't worth playing with fire, or firethrowers, to risk getting burned today. She kept going, until around the bend she caught sight of Riku just coming out of his own house. "Hey Riku!" she called out, breaking into a light run to cross the last forty meters or so toward him. "Ready to go find Sora? He owes us an entire day of work for slacking off yesterday," she grinned.
